The UCI (International Cycling Union) has published the entries list for this weekend’s UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano, which take place at Cascades MTB Park in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, from 11 to 13 April 2014.

A massive entry of sixty South African riders will be competing in the cross-country (XCO) and downhill (DHI) events. The schedule from the UCI has changed and the DHI finals will be held on the Saturday, swopping places with the XCO final, which will now take place on the Sunday. The Cross-country Eliminator (XCE), which thrilled the crowds at last year’s World Championships, has been removed from the programme altogether.

A total of 328 entries from 36 Nations have entered, including Olympic medallists, World Champions and many National Champions in their respective disciplines and age groups. Click here to view the full list.

South African Elite XCO Champion, Philip Buys, is placed 22nd on the start grid after a cracking Absa Cape Epic, where he competed with XCO World Champion Nino Schurter. Matthys Beukes is the next South African, starting 38th.

Current World DHI Champion, Greg Minnaar, will be back in action at the World Cup following his knee injury at the end of last year’s season.
