There are so many multi-tools out there. What to choose? What to choose? Well, Crank Brothers is known for making some of the finest money can buy – the lifetime warranty kind of confirms the brand’s confidence in the workmanship, materials and functionality of its tools.

The M17 has 17 features, all of which you’re likely to use as a mountain biker. They are: chaintool; spoke wrenches sizes 0, 1, 2 and 3; Allen keys sizes 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8mm, Phillips screwdriver, flat screwdriver, 8mm spanner, 10mm spanner and t-25 torx.

Made from hi-tensile steel, the M17 is strong and relatively light (168g). It has etched sides to offer increased hand grip, even while wearing gloves, and folds up to be compact (89mm long, 46mm wide and 19mm high).

It’s exceptionally well engineered, making each tool precise fitting for itscrankbrosmultitool-67 intended purpose. Very important though is leverage. Many multi-tools are too compact and don’t have enough length to offer enough leverage on the Allen keys and torx, which can lead to much trail-side frustration! However, Crank Brothers has got these proportions spot on.
