In its continued quest to grow its offering, Cycle Lab, South Africa’s largest multi-brand bicycle retailer, has added Giant Bicycles, one of the world’s most successful performance and recreational bicycle brands, to its bicycle-brand bouquet.

Paid partnership with Cycle Lab

Cycle Lab and Giant Bicycles will kick off the collaboration on Saturday 22 February with a celebration at Cycle Lab Fourways, the original Cycle Lab store and one of the largest bike shops in the Southern Hemisphere.

Giant Bicycles has been distributed in South Africa by Dragons Sports for more than 35 years, while Cycle Lab, which was established in 1995, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. The two companies have significant experience in the South African cycling market and their collaboration is expected to deliver even greater value and choice to South African cyclists.

The range of Giant bicycles sold at Cycle Lab as of 22 February 2025 caters for all types of riders, including Marathon and XCO racers with the Giant Anthem; recreational trail riders with the Giant Stance and hard-core trail riders and Enduro racers with the Giant Trance.

For recreational road cyclists, there’s the Giant TCR (Total Compact Road) and for the serious road racers, there’s the Giant Propel; while gravel racers will be able to shop from the Giant Revolt range.

Giant Anthem

Giant is one of the leading eBike brands in the country and will offer the full range at Cycle Lab, including the Giant Defy E+ road bike, the Giant Stance E+ short-travel, full-suspension mountain bike and the Giant Trance E+ – a lightweight, mid-travel, full-suspension trail mountain bike. In March 2025, the Giant Defy E+ Gravel will be in store too.

Giant Propel

“We have been working hard to add new brands to our multi-brand stable, and are excited to welcome Giant Bicycles to stores. Giant Bicycles has enjoyed incredible success globally and it is an established brand in South Africa. With this partnership, we are looking forward to grow the brand’s reach in South Africa,” said Taryn Henstock, Cycling Marketing Manager, MoreCorp Group.

Giant Stance

“We continue to stand behind brands that have  structured retail strategies and invest back into the market, which is also why we are leading initiatives like the Cycle Lab Schools Series and grassroots sports development,” added Henstock.

Giant Revolt

“We invite all Gauteng customers to come join us at Cycle Lab Fourways on Saturday 22 February for the Giant Bicycles launch event; and the following weekend at Cycle Lab N1 City for the Cape-based leg of the launch,” said Henstock.

Giant Trance

“We’re excited to see Giant Bicycles expand its retail footprint in South Africa by joining forces with Cycle Lab, alongside Giant’s sister brand, Liv. Giant will be well represented in-store with a versatile product range covering road, gravel, MTB and e-bikes, complimented by a wide range of quality gear.  As a brand, we look forward to Cycle Lab’s customers throughout the country thriving on their next Giant Bicycle!” said Oli Munnik, Giant Bicycles Brand Manager.

Giant will be available at all Cycle Lab stores.

Established in 1995, Cycle Lab, has grown its retail store base to eight stores in South Africa: Fourways (Johannesburg North), Boksburg (Johannesburg East), Lynnwood (Pretoria), Cornubia (Durban North), CWCycles Tyger Valley (Cape Town North), N1 City (Cape Town), Paarl and Ballito.
