Mountain bikers of all fitness levels can enjoy this year’s Fish River Sun Mountain Bike challenge taking place from Saturday, June 14 until Monday, June 16.

It will be a weekend-long Father’s Day celebration, with friends and family taking to the trails or relaxing at the side of the heated Fish River Sun pool.

There will be two stages for MTB riders to ride, the first situated in the Kap River Nature Reserve which is on the western banks of the Fish River.
Riders should see an abundance of wildlife as they take on the 50km route.

The second stage is on eastern side of the Fish River, and is a 60km route.
This stage is very scenic and is comprised of gravel road, jeep track and single-track cattle paths.
Riders will finish with a unique loop around the Fish River Sun golf course.
A highlight will be crossing the feature bridge over the Old Woman’s River, to end on the lawn in front of the clubhouse says Mountain Events organiser Brad Jackson.

There is so much to do at Fish after the challenge from checking the kids into Kamp Kwena while mom enjoys a relaxing spa treatment to dad partaking in a round of golf or one of the many other activities on offer.

The Fish River Sun MTB Challenge is the only Eastern Cape event to be included in the newly-formed TREAD Buffalo category, a special race category for riders weighing more than 90kg.
There will be a dedicated TREAD Buffalo division on the daily and overall results with points earned, an annual rankings log established and podium appearances guaranteed.

The Fish River Sun will be providing accommodation for the Full Race entrants at R5 700 per team of two riders which includes entry into the race (Both Stages), two nights’ accommodation at the resort (Friday and Saturday) including two breakfast, two lunches and two suppers.

There will also be a non-resident package available for mountain bikers for R2 500 per team of two riders which includes lunch.

There will also be a Solo full entry option for R3564 per rider which includes accommodation and meals and for solo non-resident entrants R1300 per rider which includes lunch.
