Entries to the 2023 Glacier Storms River Traverse are open. The three-day stage race features a famously festive spirit. The riding is not too strenuous, especially for the many who take on the race with eBikes. Each stage is around 50 kilometres in length, providing a balance of fun on the trails with easy-enough riding to ensure everyone has a reserve of energy for fun in the race village later. Though for the racers, the prospect of going faster always increases the difficulty and will certainly get the blood pumping, particularly if they choose to mix it up against the riders in the new Youth Category.

To encourage younger riders to take up mountain bike stage racing, Dryland has introduced a Youth Category to the Glacier Storms River Traverse. Young men and women, between the ages of 15 and 23 qualify for the category. They can enter as teams or as solo riders and will benefit from a 25% discount on the standard entry fee.
For eBikers the event remains one to do. The short routes mean battery management is straightforward, particularly for those who ride conservatively and chat to their fellow riders rather than race through the field. “Ideally, we’d like the eBike riders to slow down and soak up the scenery along the route,” Rademeyer added. “Come along and ride rather than race. Actually, that goes for everyone – if you really want to enjoy the event, ride it rather than race it. If you are competitive though, go full gas! There are prizes for the podium finishers, including the eBike Category.”
Entries to the Glacier Storms River Traverse are limited to 300 riders. Each entrant will receive lunch and dinner each day, access to the Rider Chill Zone area with complimentary snacks between meals, a First Ascent event garment and a Biogen goodie bag. Accommodation is, however, not included with the entry fees and the options in Storms River Village fill up fast.
