There’s a certain individual sense of race/ride-wear style that South Africans develop on the bike. Some struggle somewhat in this area and follow what they see others wear at events, or on youtube videos, while others develop a more personal look, which is usually defined by the type of bicycle racing – or riding – they do. But what about off the bike? After the ride?

Don’t be that guy or girl. There is no excuse to wear a race-finisher’s t-shirt anymore. No matter how hard-earned that t-shirt was, it either screams insecurity or whispers, “I let someone else dress me”, and that dear bicycle lovers, is not a good thing. We are better than that. We are discerning. We value riding bicycles but we are subtle with how we show this to the unconverted.

That’s where Après Velo focuses its attention. Après Velo is French, obviously, for ‘after the ride’. The international casual wear brand has deep roots in the fashion industry and soon discovered that off-the-bike clothing choices for committed bicycle lovers were slim. So it hatched a rescue plan.

Not surprisingly, besides bicycles, the folks at Après Velo share an affinity for quality coffee and this has been the inspiration behind their newest designs, the Caffeine Range. There is no greater pre- and post-ride beverage than a decent coffee (alright, a cold beer on occasion) and of course the caffeine fix has become more sought after than chain lube – RIP chains…

Globalex is the South African importer of Après Velo. It’s not just another importer jumping on the cycling market growth curve; it’s an established family-owned business based on a passion for riding bicycles, enjoying the South African outdoors and, well, improving the image of South African bicycle riders, both on and off the bike…

Globalex has an online store at www.bicyclegear.co.za and you can find Globalex stands at selected cycle expos, including the upcoming Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge Expo at Ticket Pro Dome from 17–19 November 2016.
