The final round of the Mpumalanga Enduro Series, presented by Bike Market, will be in the form of a two-day bumper event that will be held on the forested slopes of Sabie, a town that’s synonymous with mountain biking in South Africa. The event will also double as the 2022 Mpumalanga Enduro Champs.

Those only keen to race one day can do so, but will not be eligible for provincial series points or provincial champs contention.

Here’s the full schedule:

  • Saturday 29 October, York Downhill Spectator Point: Six stages over 34km with 1200m of vertical ascent.
  • Sunday 30 October, Merry Pebbles: Three stages over 15km with 600m of vertical ascent. Racing starts at 07h00 on both days.

“There’s a good mix of gradient and terrain. On Saturday we have the low-risk, more groomed and very fun singletrack trails on the York property; and on Sunday we have the more challenging, steeper and rockier trails on the SAFCOL property. It’s going to be a very good allround test for the riders,” said Schalk Potas of Trail Awareness Crew, the series organisers.

The five-round 2022 Mpumalanga Series has attracted a wide range of Enduro racers from the host province and beyond. As the final major Enduro event in the country for the year, a strong field is expected, including riders from Gauteng, North West and Limpopo.

Willie van Eck (intro image), will start as the favourite for the overall men’s title. The Organic Athlete team member has had an impressive first full year of Enduro racing, winning most local events and placing in the top three at national events.

In the small, but growing, women’s division, Danika Botha will start as the favourite. Still only in the Youth category, Botha has impressed in her first complete racing season with a number of overall podium finishes and category victories.

Online entries close on Thursday 27 October at midnight. No late entries will be accepted. For more information or to enter, click here: https://www.trailawareness.co.za/Home/Registrations/5
