Formerly known as the Cape Town Cycle Tour MTB Challenge, The MTB Challenge takes place on Saturday, 29 February 2020 at Old Bethlehem Farm in Kylemore, Stellenbosch.

Now organized by the Pedal Power Association, this iconic event returns to where it all began on the beautiful routes of Banhoek Conservancy where it was last held here in 2013. As always, the event caters for all fitness and skill levels, with these popular mountain biking trails hosting 15km, 30km and 60km routes.

Whether you’re a newcomer to the sport, an elite athlete, or riding an e-bike – yes, e-bikes are welcome – reserve your place at the start line of this great South African mountain bike race by entering on the PPA website, pedalpower.org.za. Entries close on Monday, 24 February 2020 … less than a month to go!

SERVICES ON THE DAY

Information tent: situated at the start/finish, our team will be there to answer any last-minute questions. You can also buy MTB boards if you don’t have one, as well as buy some last-minute bike spares are get adjustments done by the bike mechanics.

Coffee: Seattle Coffee will be there brewing cups of your favourite beverage.

Food & drink: choose from a variety of stalls offering pancakes, food, biltong, ice cream, wine, beer and lots more.

Free massage: For anyone needing relief from aches and pains, we have arranged massage services on the day for free.

BMX track: Great news for moms and dads! PPA Bike4All will set up a Bike4All BMX mobile track to entertain your kids for free whilst you enjoy the entertainment on offer.

Where: Old Bethlehem Farm, Rooi St, Kylemore.

The routes

  • 15km and 30km route: more family orientated, with 236m and 466m total elevation respectively.
  • 60km: this is real test of the day. The actual distance of 59km with a challenging 1 886m total elevation.

Entry fee: Varies from R70 to R350, depending on PPA membership status and the distance entered.
