The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) is in the process of electing its Athletes Commission for the nextCSA four years, ending in November 2020. The Athletes Commission (AC) is a Committee of the Board of SASCOC which acts as the athletes’ voice within SASCOC. It provides for representation of athletes to advise and guide the SASCOC Board on matters that impact athletes and members of National Federations (NFs) of SASCOC.

Athletes should be aware of the following when electing representatives to the Commission:

Factors to consider:

  • Active senior national team athletes
  • Athletes who have been retired for less than eight years
  • Gender equality
  • Olympians/ Paralympians from the previously disadvantaged sector
  • Athletes who have participated/ are participating in:
    • Summer Olympics
    • Summer Paralympic
    • Winter Olympics
    • Winter Paralympics
    • Non-Olympic sports (Commonwealth and World Games sports)
