The 2024 Gauteng Enduro Championships, presented by Suzuki, will take place at Grootfontein, Pretoria on Saturday 7 September and a large field is expected to challenge for provincial championship titles.
Although it’s considered one of the ‘tamer’ Enduro race venues in Gauteng, Grootftontein’s trailmaster has pulled out all the stops to deliver a course that’s worthy of a championship event. One completely new stage and changes to all the other ‘regular’ stages will deliver a fresh challenge for all competitors.
What Grootfontein’s stages lack in length, they make up for in flow. Despite the dry, loose surfaces, each stage is fast and flowy but will require sharp focus to ensure no washing out on corners. The new stage, Stage 6, is the longest and will require the most pedalling, which will please the fitter racers.
“There is quite a large XCO community in Pretoria and we are hoping that some of those racers will give the Gauteng Champs at Grootfontein a go,” said Paola Damilano, event organiser. “There’s really nothing on the stages that can’t be ridden on a XC race bike and where there are larger features, there are B Lines.”
