South African mountain bike racing star, Luke Moir, has been left stranded without a team just weeks before the 2025 XCO racing season starts and is searching for support. The new Swiss team he was signed for hasn’t secured its title sponsorship, leaving Moir and other team members scrambling for support. Here’s how you can assist.
Moir, one of the top Under-23 XCO racers in the world last year, signed an agreement with a team for the 2025 season at the end of 2024. However, due to mismanagement, the team falsely led riders to believe a sponsor was secured when it was not, ultimately causing the team’s collapse and leaving Moir stranded at the last minute without structured support or the opportunity to race the full 2025 World Cup Circuit.
Despite this devastating setback, Moir is determined to keep racing. He has explored every possible team option, but at this time of year, most teams are either full or out of budget. This leaves him with two options: finding another team late in the game or competing as a privateer. Given the current situation, racing as a privateer is now the best and most realistic path forward.
