Say cheers to loneliness and hello to love. Well, it’s not guaranteed, but it’s worth a shot, right? The inaugural Cycling & Running Singles Event, presented by ECOLOGIC, takes place in Pretoria on Saturday 24 September and it’s designed to deliver a safe and fun environment to meet likeminded people.

The venue is Cowhouse at Hazeldean Valley Trails, Pretoria. There are three mountain bike event distances – 50km, 25km and 10km and two Trail running/walking distances – 10km and 5km. The action kicks off at 08h00 with all categories heading out on marked routes with waterpoint support and live timing and results.
At 12h00 the Social Singles event gets underway where a DJ will be playing and mingling and meeting new people will be possible.
“It’s a minefield for single mountain bikers and runners trying to meet new people online and through apps. So I figured why not organise an event that facilitates a more traditional environment for singles to mingle,” said Pierre Diederichs, event organiser and owner of ECOLOGIC, an all-purpose cleaning product brand that’s a significant supporter of many Gauteng mountain bike and trail running events.
“It’s designed to offer a good quality mountain bike and trail running event and a place for single people to meet other single people during the races and afterwards. Because we know that this kind of event can be intimidating, we have permitted entrants to bring one friend/guest for support (the guest/friend doesn’t have to be single).
