South Africa’s ‘Race with Soul’ is about to make a highly anticipated return to its pioneering roots…
The Momentum Health Cape Pioneer Trek presented by Biogen has settled into a comfortable rhythm over the last ten years and was said to have put on its best edition yet in 2018. But as with the spirit of a true pioneer, it will head into the unknown this year with a new and improved route.
From 8-14 September, the seven day stage race will take riders from the unspoiled coastal trails of Mossel Bay into the heart of the Klein Karoo. A highlight in 2019 will certainly be the return of Louvain, which will give riders a new crossing over the Outeniquas.
With space for a brand new race village to work with, Rademeyer commented, “We want riders to experience a really remote race venue for at least one night – a place far removed from the hustle and bustle of a large town or city. Here they can encounter the Karoo in its full glory.”
The popular event not only showcases renowned South African scenery, but offers competitive cyclists the chance to participate in a UCI registered stage race. Look out for more information about the 2019 line-up in the coming weeks.
