How fortunate are we that there are a number of smart trainers from which to choose these days! So many brands, so many models, it’s almost overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be because the discerning buyer is choosing the Tacx Flux 2. Here’s why.

Tacx is the original home trainer brand, starting out with rollers back in 1972. The Dutch family business grew and the focus evolved in line with technology and by 2000, Tacx was the first home trainer brand to connect computer electronics to home trainers, showing speed, power, cadence and heart rate.

Tacx produced its first series of smart trainers in 2014 and continued to lead in terms of innovation, despite the arrival of competitors. The Tacx Neo is the only true direct-drive smart trainer, delivering the most accurate, realistic and silent smart training experience available, which is why it was the unit of choice for the UCI’s inaugural eSport World Championships in 2020.

In 2019, Garmin acquired Tacx in a move that shook the global sports technology market. With Garmin’s massive global distribution and sales network, as well as its penchant for innovation and integration, the Tacx brand was ready to go to the next level, which we are beginning to see now, in products like the Flux 2.

The Flux 2 is an update on the original Flux Smart and includes:

Maximum of 2000 Watts supported resistance – not many cyclists can reach 2000 Watts and even then, it’s only possible with a massive, brief sprinting effort out of the saddle.

Maximum 16% supported incline – Most inclines in the virtual riding/racing world don’t exceed 15%, but the Flux 2 can accurately reflect rider performance on gradients up to 16% in pitch.

Cassette compatibility of 8-11 speed – The Flux 2 can comfortably accommodate older bikes or new bikes with different cassette-cog counts.
Axle compatibility range – A road bike with a 130mm axle or mountain bikes with 135mm, 142x12mm or 148x12mm axles fit the Flux 2.

Dual ANT+/Bluetooth Smart support, including FE-C and FTMS, plus power/speed/cadence broadcasting – all the essential measurements required for a realistic, comprehensive smart-technology ride or race are available on the Flux 2.

Simulated flywheel inertia of 31.2kg – this comes from the 7.6kg flywheel weight that helps deliver a highly simulated road feel, which ensures a more realistic riding experience and a much quieter action.

Accurate to within 2.5% – The Flux 2 accurately measures power, speed and cadence, to within 2.5%, among the smallest range margin of any smart trainer.

Training app compatible – the Flux 2 is compatible with most virtual training and racing apps, including Tacx Training, Zwift and Rouvy.

The Tacx Flux 2 sells for R17199 and delivers the ideal combination of high-end realistic performance measurement at excellent value for money. It also comes with the backing of Garmin South Africa, making it the preferred choice for discerning buyers. For more information or to buy yours while there’s stock, head over here
