The Red Bull Hardline is widely considered to be the toughest downhill race in the world. Designed by Dan Atherton, the course throws everything natural at the riders – ruts, roots and rocks, exposed sections, forested sections – and then it includes some massive man-made obstacles. Hip-gaps, road-gap, tricky drop-downs, large drop-offs, sketchy turns and gigantic jumps all feature in this men-only event. South Africa’s Theo Erlangsen was invited for the first time this year and he finished a highly credible ninth. Here’s a look at the runs of the top 3 finishers to give you an idea of just how gnarly this event is!
